Busy Busy Busy

The end of the year is always busy for me…I have had tests to mark and report cards to write….a Christmas concert to organise….classes to plan and teach…washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning……just a few jobs!!

So here are a few of the projects I have done in the last few weeks.

Karen's ClockBlake's Clock

These are the thank you gifts I made for my daughter’s cheerleading teachers. As you will see, I have become a bit obsessed with decorating clocks….my upline Kim showed me how easy it is to make your own clock face. I bought the clocks from Ikea and have had lots of fun making them.

Chicks In Pink Cheque

You will remember that for World Cardmaking Day, I was raising funds for the Chicks in Pink charity. I attended their annual charity morning tea and presented them with a cheque for $700….and of course, I couldn’t just hand over a regular old cheque. So here is the decorated envelope I made. I used Elegant Soiree DSP and Beautiful Butterflies die.

Christmas Gift-CandleChristmas Clocks 4Ribbon Wreath 2

These were the three projects we made for my November Class- Christmas gifts. We stamped a candle,  a clock and make a mini ribbon wreath. The ladies loved these projects and I know that they have already made more for presents for their families.

Well I have more projects to show….I promise to show you more in the next few days!!

My Clever Girl

My love of cardmaking has definitely rubbed off onto my daughter. She loves to make cards and gifts for her friends and family as much as I do. This weekend one of the teachers in her year level is getting married so all the children in Year 2 had a special morning tea to celebrate. The children were able to bring some flowers and make a card at home if they wanted to….so of course….we wanted to. This is the card she made!

004 (3)

She made the owls all by herself (well I did help a bit with the eyes…the bits are just sooooo little) and chose which colours she wanted to use. We added some shimmer to the bride’s dress and the hearts and some rhinestones and pearls to finish off the outfits.

007 (3)

And here she is with her creation! I am very proud of her!!

World Cardmaking Day Part 2

So I know that I said I would be back to show you the other projects we made for World Cardmaking Day but as I tore my calf muscle last week…I have not been able to spend much time at my computer table. Thankfully the leg is on the mend but I am still taking it easy as the doctor has told me that while it is still injured I am more prone to tear it again!! Something I definitely do NOT want to do!!

In the morning session of World Cardmaking Day, we made 4 3D projects.

Bird house 3

This first project was a little bird house…complete with bird….made using the milk carton die. We stamped the milk carton with the woodgrain background stamp and then added a roof and a bird!! It is just sooooooo cute!! (But I am not sure what I would use it for LOL)

WCD-Bag

Our second project was a bag-a-lope. This is where you  score an envelope and turn it into a bag. We decorated it with Blushing Bride DSP and flowers from the Fancy Folds die.

WCD- Gift Voucher

Our third project was a gift card holder. I was given one of these as a swap at last year’s Convention from my friend and fellow demo Di Barnes. It was made using the Top Note Die and the Growing Green stamp set.

WCD-Rose

Our last project was a Fererro Rocher rose. To make this rose, you use the Ornament punch. It is a little fiddly but I think it would make a great centre piece for the table at Christmas!!

So there you have it…all the projects from our fantastic day!!

Christmas Cards

I must start this post off with a bit of a funny story. As many of you know, I am a primary school Music teacher and have been for the last 14 years. It is a rewarding job but it does have its drawbacks….the biggest being, I can’t always go to the toilet when I want to.  It is not like I can leave 30 kids in a room all by themselves while I duck off. Most days I can hold out until the lunch breaks but on Friday, I was really busting to go….so I asked another teacher to keep an eye on my class while I made a quick trip!! As I was “running” to the loo, I felt my calf muscle give way!! Now you have to understand, I was busting so I hobbled to the loo (with much ribbing from the tuckshop ladies who witnessed the whole thing) and hobbled back in tears…much to the shock of the children I was supposed to be teaching. To cut a long story short, I was taken down to sick bay in a wheel chair (how embarrassing) and then off to the doctors and xray….I have a small tear in my calf muscle. Gee and just when I thought my dreams of representing Australia in running were going to come true. (Bwahahaha…just kidding) But it has slowed my down a bit…I have had to keep my leg elevated and iced for the last 2 days!! But it is feeling a little better…so no permanent damage done I hope! Will have to go back to the doctors on Monday to see when I can go back to work!!

Now onto my cards!!

I have been in a Christmas card making frenzy of late…it is all I seem to be making!! So here are a few of the cards I have been making!! They are all cases of cards I have found at SCS but unfortunately I have been having many computer problems that I can’t find who I cased them from. Please let me know if you I got my creations from you!

Christmas SAS1

This card uses the set Season of Joy….I have had it for a while but I still love it. I stamped in black and used Very Vanilla and More Mustard….love these colours together!!

Christmas SAS3

Now I just love this little reindeer from Sparkly and Bright. I have used Soft Suede, Real Red and Garden green for this card.

Christmas SAS4

And for this card, I used Rich Razzleberry, River Rock and Very Vanilla. I made a reverse mask for this card and sponged the background in River Rock and then added some sparkle with some Champagne Glimmer paint.

Love all of these cards….will be making more of them!! And I have heaps more to show you!!

Cheers

Random Cards

I am still working on showing you the projects we made for World Cardmaking Day but in the mean time, I have some cards that I have been making lately to show you.

OWEN Birthday

In September, it was my BIL’s birthday and this is the card I made for him. It has been cased but for the life of me, I can’t find where I saw it. I used Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso cardstock and ink.  I used Stem Silhouettes and On Your Birthday stamp sets.

Bleach Believe

This card was made using a set from the new catalogue called Just Believe. For this card, I decided to use bleach to colour the main image….it wasn’t as hard as I thought, I just put some bleach from the laundry onto some paper towel and “inked” it up. Colours used: Early Espresso, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Real Red ribbon.

French Butterflies

This is a case of a card that I just fell in love with. I decided that I needed to try out my new Crumb Cake ink pad and inked up my En Francais background stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock. I then stamped the butterflies from All A Flutter in black stazon and coloured them in with my aqua painter- More Mustard, Garden Green, Not Quite Navy and Cherry Cobbler. I finished off the card with some Vanilla Ribbon and a Mustard button. I finished off the butterflies with some Champagne Shimmer paint.  I really love this card!!

Hope  you like my creations!! Back again soon!!

World Cardmaking Day Part 1

Saturday 2nd October was World Cardmaking Day and to celebrate it, my friend Sherri and I hosted a whole day event to help raise money for Chicks in Pink, a local breast cancer support group.

SAM_0147

SAM_0146

I held the event at my “day job”…..my school room… and made it look cheery and festive with a banner that I made using the banner die and the sign from our scrapbook expo stall. I managed to take these photos in the only time the sun was out all day!!

We held 2 sessions….one was making 3D objects and one was a stamp-a-stack.

WCD-Man Riding MusicWCD kids 4  WCD-Christmas

These are the cased cards we made for the Stamp-a-Stack….a man card, a ladies card, kids cards and a Christmas card. The ladies card was both loved and hated (LOL) because of the little flowers on it. They are really quite easy to make….just scrunch up a circle and then cut a spiral in it and then roll them up (really it is easy!!!) but they had to make 12 of them!! Good thing I am good at making them and was happy to sit and make lots of them!! LOL!!

SAM_0150

I will be back tomorrow to show you our 3D creations!!

Brisbane Regionals

Last Saturday, Stampin’ Up! came to Brisbane for a training day for demonstrators. I had a fantastic time meeting some cyber friends and swapping with lots of talented demonstrators. The day involved training by demonstrators and Stampin’ Up! staff from Australia and the US….I got some great ideas that I am eager to try! We also got to make some cool projects that I am sure you will love!!

IMG_0209 IMG_0208

IMG_0211 IMG_0205

These are the 4 projects we made. All of them use the new set, Every Moment. Now I have to admit, that I wasn’t really fussed on the set when I first saw it, but I really love it now.  We made a full sized card, a note card, a scrapbook page and a party bag!! They look really cute in real life…and would be great to make at a workshop!!

Regional Swap Regional Swap 3

This is my swap for Regionals….the only thing I changed was that I used just plain Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. I made 5 each of 6 colours…Razzleberry, Cajun, Cherry, Peach, Poppy, Riding Hood Red.

All A Flutter

I have had a lovely day just playing with some new stamps! Oh and my obsession- Shimmer Paint!! Shimmer Paint is in the new catalogue and there is soooooo much you can do with it!! I read on Splitcoast Stampers that you could add a few drops to rubbing alcohol in a mister spray and it makes a shimmer mist…so that is what I did…so now everything is shimmery!!

IMG_0212

This card I made using the En Francais and All a Flutter stamp sets. I had seen a card by Redheaded Witch on Splitcoast and knew I had to make it. I stamped my Very Vanilla cardstock with the background stamp in Crumb Cake and then sponged the edges and random bits in the centre. I then stamped the butterflies using Basic Black on to another piece of Vanilla cardstock and added colour using a combination of a sponge dauber and a blender pen…the colours I used were Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, Garden Green and Not Quite Navy. I cut them out and then sprayed then with my shimmer spray so they were all sparkly!! I finished off the card with some Vanilla Taffeta ribbon and a Mustard button!!

I just love how this card looks in real life!!

Hoot!!

When my new owl punch arrived, the first thing my kids said was,  “Mum, make a Hoot”. Anyone with little kids will know who Hoot is….he is a very cute owl on ABC kids. So, I went and found some pictures of him and got to punching!

Hoot

So here he is!! He was very easy to make…but he needed to be put on a card!

Hoot Card

I put him on a Daffodil Delight circle and added a branch from the bird punch and then made his name using the Timeless Type sizzlits dies. The card base is Confetti White and Hoot is made using Marina Mist and Poppy Parade. I am quite pleased with how he turned out!!

New Catalogue Launch

This On Friday night I held  my new catalogue with my friend Sherri! We had a great night with makes and takes, lucky door prizes and a goody bag for everyone!!

005 008

Riding Freddo

These are just some of the things we made for our goody bags…a covered notebook, a cardstock sample key ring and a Freddo Frog folder!!

And here are our 3 make and takes. We made 2 cards and a box. The reindeer card was designed by Sherri and was a huge hit with all the ladies. The box was made using the new Box #2 die and the flower card was made using the new Blossom Party die, Brights DSP stack and Scallop Trim border punch.

We all had a great night..so much fun that I forgot to take photos on my camera!! Never mind….next time!!

Obsessed

I am becoming obsessed with Riding Hood Red, Newsprint DSP and Old Olive!! In the last few days I have made 2 projects and that doesn’t account for  the 2 others I have already made. I just love how these colours work together!! So here is what I have made!!

Riding Freddo Riding Freddo inside2

So this is what I have called my Freddo Folder!! I just wrapped a piece of Riding Hood Red around a Freddo Frog!  I added some of the delicious Newsprint DSP and finished off with a Riding Hood Red rolled rose and the leaf from the Bird Punch.

Riding Music

Now because it was soooooo easy to make the rolled roses and I had a few on my desk, I made this card. The paper is from the Newsprint DSP, the leaves are Little Leaves Die and I used some Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon.

I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Charity Card Afternoon

Last weekend I was apart of a charity card afternoon. Our aim was to make as many cards as we could to support the Chicks in Pink… a group that helps and supports women with breast cancer. My friend and downline Sherri was one of the main organisers of the event and I went along to help teach some ladies how to make some cards.

Card day pics 002Me :) Card day pics 003 Sherri :)

So here we are in action!! We both designed some simple cards and then showed the ladies how to make them. Our aim was for everyone to make at least 2 of each of the cards. These are the cards that I designed. They were all made using retired products that I was happy to donate to the cause.

Cards for Cancer Cards for Cancer 2 Cards for Cancer 3 At the end of the afternoon we had mad a whopping 300 cards!! They will be sold at the Mater hospitals at South Brisbane and the Redlands and all money will go towards helping breast cancer patients.
