A Busy Weekend

I have had a very busy weekend with family and stamping. Saturday saw me washing and cleaning... my usual Saturday ritual. Working full time means that I don't have much of a chance to do these chores during the week. On Saturday night we went to watch the Riverfire display in at Southbank. (For those people not in Brisbane... Riverfire is a big fireworks display.) This year over 400 000 people were there to see it! My DH works in the city and we were able to go into his office to watch it away from the crowds. It was very exciting and the kids loved it! Between washing loads I was able to make this card!

I am not sure I like it... a bit too busy for me but it was the first time I have used this set... so I was more playing than really having a purpose in mind. I used Groovy Guava, Soft Sky and Blue Bayou.

On Sunday, a friend came over and we made some Father's Day cards for her DH and Dad and a birthday card for her daughter who is turning 9 soon. Now sadly, I didn't take any photos of her creations but she was very pleased with what she made and how fast she made them. I then cleaned up my desk as I couldn't see the top of the desk at all. That seemed to take the whole day! LOL

So that is all to tell. I am working on a couple of projects that I will post pictures of when they are done. I hope you all have a great week!

Cheers,
Chrissie

Sick Baby

I did have grand plans of updating my blog long before now but my DD has been very sick. On Friday she came home from school with a fever... this lasted until Sunday afternoon despite all the panadol and nurofen I gave her. On Sunday the cough started and is persisting despite a trip to the doctors for anti-biotics and prednisone( no idea how to spell it!). She is still sick and now has a case of thrush in her mouth making everything taste bad! The poor little thing... she is very petite to start off with and this has knocked her around quite badly. I will have to go to school tomorrow as the Choir is performing for Senior Citizens week at a local retirement village. No one else at school is able to do it for me so I may have to go just for the morning

Here are two cards that I made very quickly on Monday night after seeing the cute pillow boxes Nerine made on her blog.
I coloured white grosgrain ribbon using Sage Shadow ink and a dauber as SU don't make this colour... my first attempt at this and quite happy with how it turned out. (Colour combo for this card... So Saffron and Sage Shadow)

I also used my two new word sets that arrived on Monday- Short & Sweet and Warm Words. Love them both... I didn't really have any little word stamps and these two work nicely. (Colour Combo for this card... Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue)

Doing?

What have I been doing? Well I have been quite busy with family life and have not had the chance to make anything!! Aaaahhhh!!!
Last weekend, a friend from college turned 40 and my DH and I went down to Alstonville in northern NSW to her house. We left our 2 darling children with my sister... so it was a bit of "us" time. Carolynn had a costume party with us all having to go from a person in history that made an impact on the date of her birth. I went as a flowerchild from Woodstock that was happening at the time and my DH went as Ringo Starr who became a member of the Beatles on the same date. Now I did take my camera with me with all the intentions of taking a photo of us but it stayed in the car for the entire time we were there. It was a lot of fun.. we drank and sang around the piano till the wee small hours of the morning!

On a completely different note... my dear friend Susan has awarded me another blog award. Thank you very much for this honour.

The rules of the award are:
1. The winner can put the logo on her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.

Pretty Petals

On Sunday night I had some quiet time by myself... the kids were in bed and my DH went to bed early. I was loitering at SCS and going through the gallery when I found some fabulous cards that I just had to case.

I just LOOOOVVVE this card. I got the original idea from Suen. I changed very little. I used the Polka Dot and Petals set withe Chocolate Chip cardstock and ink, Very Vanilla cardstock and Whisper White craft ink. I have also used Cream organza ribbon (retired) and the 2 oval punches.

I also cased this card from Jenn. I have changed absolutely nothing about this card... I loved it so much! I have used Soft Sky and Blue Bayou cardstock and ink as well as Certainly Celery ink and Whisper White cardstock. I also used the Soft Sky double stitched ribbon.

I love both of these cards... they are sooooo different but they use the same set! It is amazing how versatile one set can be!

Creating a Storm

My best friend Julie has once again asked me to make some thank you cards for her. She is a school teacher and often receives little gifts from her students. She likes to give thank you cards when she does.

Julie asked me to make some small cards and she picked Soft Sky cardstock. Her only request was that I use the hedgehog from the Fun and Fast Notes set. I made 18 of them and added some chocolate chip taffeta ribbon. For the other cards, I just picked some of my favourite stamp sets- Petal Prints, STem Silhouettes (retired), Bud Basics, In the Spotlight (Level 2 Hostess) and Just Like You (gift from the US). I stuck with the Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip colour scheme for all of them.I have made 50 of them in total.

Julie then asked me to make some regular sized cards. She absolutely loves the Berry Bliss DSP so this was the basis for my cards. Most of the cards, I just used the designer paper and a thank you stamp. I did use the poppy from the In the Spotlight hostess set. I have 32 of these in total.

I had lots of fun making these cards and I am sure that Julie will love them all!
