Hootie

So today’s post is completely unrelated to papercrafts but I just had to share…..

This is “Hootie” and I made him for my DS. I was blog surfing and came across this post by Anj at Snowy Bliss. Well I was just blown away by her owl party and her owls that I had to buy the tutorial and make an owl….so that is what I did.

Now “Hootie” is make out of minky fleece so that he is lovely and soft but that is the only change I made to Anj’s tutorial.

Am in the process of making one for my DD…they are very addictive so I will have to make more!!

Milk Carton Die

Ok….so I am a little obsessed with the Milk Carton Die right now…and I was blog surfing the other day and found this great tutorial for making a hexagonal  box using the milk carton die. And it is very cute so of course I just had to make it!!

002

I used Regal Rose cardstock for the box base and Nursery Suite DSP to decorate the box. I finished off the box with paper flowers. It didn’t take very long to make it and now I have just have to decide who I am going to give it to!!

Scrapbook Expo

I had a great time at the Australasian Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo on the June long weekend. I was a part of 6 demonstrators who  put their creative talents on show. We met many great people and it was such a lot of fun being able to share my love of paper crafting with everyone.

A fun technique

I love using a technique to make a card have that wow factor. And last weekend at our team meeting, my upline Kim asked me to show everyone a technique that wowed my customers. So I showed them the Embossing folder and wax paper resist technique. You can find a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers on how to do it.

My three cards above show how you can use the finished effect to give three different cards. For the red card, I used the resist as the featured background. For the cupcake card, I used the resist as the feature on the cupcakes. And on the flower card, I embossed the same folder on the resist page. Three different effects with one great technique. I hope you give it a go one day soon!!

Thank You Box

My DD started to learn the violin this year and was fortunate to be able to spend 3 days on a music camp….the only problem was- they were the same 3 days that I work. So luckily for me, I had a friend who offered to take her and bring her home in the afternoon. To say thank you, I made these little boxes and filled them with choccies!!

I made the button on the front of the chocolate box by layering card circles and then covering it in crystal effects.

Convention Swaps

Each year, Stampin’ Up! holds a convention for all its demonstrators and this year it was in Melbourne. Much of the fun of going to convention is to be able to swap cards with other demonstrators…these are the cards I made for swaps this year.

I really loved the butterfly card so I made it in 2 different colour combinations- purples and orange/rust. The other card is one of my first attempts at the vintage look.

Hayley’s Birthday

My DD Hayley turned 8 in March…and we don’t tend to do the birthday party thing every year but seeing as we didn’t do it last year, it was inevitable that it would be a go this year. She decided that she wanted to go to the movies with some of her friends from school (yay I said).

072

These are the invitations that I made. I love the new cupcake punch and stamp set out of the Autumn mini….it made making the invitations so quick and easy. The colours I used were Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Chocolate Chip.

015

016

I made up “Bag in a Box” bags for the party bags…and the girls took them into the movies with them. I had them filled with movie food- popcorn, lollies and chips.

022

Now many of you may not know this about me…but I have a horrible affliction…..yes I am icing impaired. I never have any success when it comes to decorating cakes for my children’s birthdays….oh the stories I could tell…but I digress. Earlier on in the year, I bought some edible ink felt pens….so when it came to decorating Hayley’s cake, I simply bought some white marzipan icing, rolled it out and put it over the cake. Then I went and got out my Vintage Vogue stamp set…gave it a good clean and used the markers to ink up the stamps. And hey presto….a beautifully iced cake. Now I did cheat a little and buy the little roses in the middle of some of the big flowers but the rest is all hand stamped and hand made by me!!

019

Finally, this is the card I made for Hayley. This is a case of a card that I have had in my favourites folder for a long time and I am sorry that I don’t know whose original idea this is. I changed it a bit and added some gold shimmer paint to the flower.

All in all it was a good birthday and I had lots of fun making them for her!!

Hello

Well I am sure that you have thought that I had been kidnapped by aliens and really that would be a much better story than…I have been busy….but I have just been really busy. The start of the school year is always a bit hectic but this year just seemed to be much worse. My DS started prep and my DH started a new job so there was lots of preparations needed for both events. Then there has been classes to get ready for, and to teach both at school and at home. But hopefully I will get back into  a regular routine of posting again.

056

This is the card that I made for my niece for her 16th birthday back in February. She is bright and bubbly so I wanted to make something that was bright too. I used the Sunny Garden DSP and punched out flowers and scallops and then crumpled then all up and put a flower brad through the centre. It is really pretty in real life and my niece loved it!!

I will be back soon with some more projects…I promise!!

Scrapbooking!!!

Yes I know…it is not something I usually do but it is a new year and I have decided to challenge myself and give it a go!! I have started small and completed some 6x6 pages of my family.

002007

These 2 pages I had already designed for workshops I had done last year but had never gotten round to putting pictures in…so it was quick and easy to do these 2!! LOL

001004 (2)003006

These 4 pages I made up all by myself!!  I received the Circle Scissors for Christmas so I just had to try it out…so I made the circle layout of my DD. It is very simple but I was really happy with how it turned out. The second one is of my DS when he was just a baby but he loved and dominated the remote control of the telly and would not let it go even if he was asleep!! I love how simple it is to make titles with the Sizzlits Alphabet dies (as you can see…I used them a lot!!) and they just seem to complete the pages!!

Hopefully I will be back soon with some 12x12 pages that I have completed!!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to you all!! I hope you had a great Christmas with family and friends!! We had a lovely day with my sisters and their families…eating way too much!!

I know I have been a bit quiet of late….December is always very busy with getting ready for Christmas. I have a few projects to share with you… presents for the girls in my family!!

002 (2)001 (2)005 (2)003 (2)

I had lots and lots of fun decorating thongs for my sisters, nieces and my daughter. I used the Big Shot and some felt to make flower embellishments for them. It was lots and lots of fun. I used the Island Floral die (from the mini catalogue) and the Blossom Party die (from the big catty) to make them. The Big Shot cut though the felt sooo easily and I used ribbon and mini glue dots to hold them together. (Next time I will use hot glue to stick them together as they did fall apart in the humidity of Christmas)

I will be back soon with a few more projects I have been working on soon!!

Cheers
