Changes to my Blog

I am sure that you have noticed some changes to my blog! I decided that my banner was looking a little tired and needed a make over. Now I am not that computer savvy and the last time I put a new banner on, my big sis helped me to do it. And I kind of watched her do but really I had no idea.  So I went in to Publisher and had a play. I kind of knew what I wanted it to look like, and after 20 minutes my new banner was done!

I have also wanted to change the layout of my blog. So I went to this site and it had very clear instructions on how to change my blog to 3 columns which I was able to follow. (Absolute miracle because I have never managed to change anything about my blog before.) So now I am going to work on adding a cool background to my blog. Keep watching!

And finally, the last change I have made is I am now using Windows Live Writer to post to my blog. It makes it sooo much more easy to do as I can now add photo collages (like in the last 2 posts); I can add smileys; Hot and a heap of other things that I haven’t even learnt how to do yet! LOL!

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! I am on holidays for the next 2 weeks, so hopefully I will get lots of projects made and shared here.

Cheers

Hubby’s Birthday Card

For my birthday this year, I gave my DH my catalogue with all the things that I have bought marked off and a list of the things that I would like and said go for it! I had to show a lot of restraint by not looking at the order he had placed until it was my birthday. Funnily enough, he didn’t get one thing on my list but instead bought me some stamps that he liked and he thought went with the stamps I already had. Two of the sets he bought were the accessory sets for All in the Family so when his birthday came around a month later I decided to make a card with myself and the kids on it!

It was a lot of fun making our little family. My DS James has just started to play soccer and my DD Hayley does dancing so it was easy to dress them up.  It was also super easy to colour the images in with my SU markers.

Happy Birthday Sis

My sister Sharyn and my hubby both share the same birthday so I thought  I would show you the card I made for my sister today and the card for my hubby tomorrow. I have seen many examples of this type of card at SCS and wanted to try it for myself but I didn’t quite do it the same way.

Firstly, I stamped the rose image from Fifth Avenue Floral 4 times in Versamark on watercolour paper and then embossed it using white embossing powder. I spritzed each image with a little water and watercoloured the flowers using my aquapainter and ink. The colours I used were Regal Rose, So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Pixie Pink. I just added colour to the petals in a random pattern adding more ink in some areas and less in others. I then cut out sections of the 4 roses and layered them I then paper pierced the Regal Rose mat and layered it with So Saffron and Whisper White. I stamped the So Saffron card base with the rose stamp in Versamark and added a greeting from It’s Your Birthday.

I was really happy with how the card turned out and my sister was thrilled.

See you tomorrow with my next card.

Miss Amanda

One of my DS’s preschool teacher left today to have her 2nd baby. Miss Amanda has been just brilliant with James. She takes none of his rubbish and has not been taken in by his dazzling smile and his “I wouldn’t do that” ways. LOL So I decided that I would make her a little gift box filled with baby goodies. Now I got the template for the box from Sue Denning. I just love how simple her instructions were to follow and how easy it was to make. IMG_0561

For the box, I used Ruby Red and So Saffron Cardstock and Washington Apple DSP. I stamped animals from  In the Wild in co-ordinating colours to decorates the box. I also used some Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue ribbon to finish it off.

I also made a card to go with the box using the same colours and left over bits that didn’t make it to the box. The only thing I added was some Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon.

Miss Amanda loved the box and was touched by the gift. Thanks so much to Sue for sharing your great gift box.

Stop Looking... I Found it!

Earlier in the week, I said I had lost my mojo...hating everything that I made. It didn't seem to matter what I did, I didn't like it. And I know that we are our own worse critics. But out of the many rejects, there was one card that I did like. But one card does not make a class. So I decided that I would take that one card and turn it into a class. And here is result. We made the same card 5 times...but in different colours and with different embellishments. I also used the same basic design and decorated the very simple box to put our cards in. And I mut say that I am thrilled with the results.

Each of the cards has the same basic design... weathered background stamp... a couple of layers, some ribbon and a scalloped circle centre piece. Each card used different stamps from the Circle Circus stamp set to decorate the edges of the top layer. We used the large scalloped stamp from this set as the basis of the centre piece but added a different embellishment each time.

This is card that started off the idea. I cannot be sure that I didn't CASED it from somewhere but for the life of me I cannot say where. I have looked in all the places I went last week but to no avail. I am not sure that I didn't get the idea from a number of cards and made it my own...but if I did CASE it from you...please let me know.

Colours: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red and Pink Piroette.
Ribbon: Pink Piroette striped ribbon.
Embellishment: Jumbo Pewter Eyelet.

Colours: Orchid Oppulence, Elegant Eggplant, Pale Plum.
Ribbon: Elegant Eggplant grosrain ribbon.
Embellishment: Purple square Rhinestone Brad.

Colours: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy and Baja Breeze.
Ribbon: Night of Navy grosgrain ribbon.
Embellishment: Brocade button (retired)

Colours: Kiwi Kiss, Garden Green and Certainly Celery.
Ribbon: Kiwi Kiss satin ribbon.
Embellishment: green Supernova Glitter.

Colours: Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun and Apricot Appeal.
Ribbon: Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon.
Embellishment: Dazzling Diamonds.

And here is the box. It was made out of Cameo Coral cardstock and we used the same basic design as the card...minus the scallop circle centre piece.

Well I hope your like this little set. The ladies at my class sure did.

Australasian Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo

For the last 2 days I have been working at the Australasian Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo at the Brisbane Convention Centre. It has been amazing! My upline Kimmy organised our stall and myself and 3 other ladies in her team have worked together to put our stall together. I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Kim as she has worked day and night for the last 2 weeks putting together information booklets and sample bags to sell at the stand. She also designed the great card for our make and takes which has been a great hit with everyone who joined us and made it.

This is our stall. While we all contributed to the display- making cards, scrapbook pages and 3D items, most of the fantastic work on the walls was made by Kim.

This is the table at the front of our stall where we did our demonstrations and the make and takes. It is a little hard to see, but our make and take is at the front of the table. We used the set Circle Circus and 4 of the new In Colours.

Here we are on the first day just before the expo started. From the left is Vanessa, Me, Jenny and Kim.

I have met some great ladies over the last 2 days and I hope to catch up with some of them again soon. If you are going to the Expo tomorrow, don't forget to drop in and say hello!
Cheers
